Peter Corry searches for a new star for his popular Christmas show The Music Box

By Gary Grattan

The search is on for a star in the making.

It’s not X Factor, and it’s not Britain’s Got Talent… it’s a brand new local search for a singing star in Northern Ireland and this team of talent seekers are looking for a SPAR Star!

To celebrate the hugely popular Christmas show The Music Box returning to the Belfast Waterfront with this year’s brand new production Home for Christmas, PC Productions are joining forces with the Henderson Group and Citybeat to find some brand new talent.

The winning talented teenager will win their place on stage during four shows from December 18-20.

Producer Peter Corry said: "This year we are looking for fresh, new singing talent – we know it is out there, so are encouraging tuneful teenagers to enter for the chance of one of them to sing to thousands at this fantastic venue.”

To enter is simple; young singers between the age of 13 and 16 are invited to film their audition, visit the SPAR NI Facebook page and click on the SPAR Star app.

From there, their audition can be uploaded until Sunday, September 21 and viewed by the judges, who will then decide on a shortlist to be announced in October.

The Music Box – Home for Christmas will hit the stage at the Belfast Waterfront from Thursday December 18 until Saturday  December 20, including a matinee performance on the Saturday.

The show, which has been hugely successful since it was first staged in 2009, will welcome two special guest stars this year; Andrea Begley from The Voice, and Ian McElhinney who is currently starring in the HBO drama, Game of Thrones.

To upload a video audition, visit and for all other information on The Music Box – Home for Christmas, search for The Music Box on Facebook. Tickets to the shows are available via the Belfast Waterfront box office or
