He played his last ever live show in Belfast in 2016
Swedish DJ Avicii, real name Tim Bergling, has died at the age of 28.
The news was confirmed by his publicist Diana Baron in a statement on Friday evening.
"It is with profound sorrow that we announce the loss of Tim Bergling, also known as Avicii," she said.
"He was found dead in Muscat, Oman this Friday afternoon local time, April 20. The family is devastated and we ask everyone to please respect their need for privacy in this difficult time. No further statements will be given."
He retired from performing in 2016, citing health concerns, but continued to record music.
He played his last ever live show at Belfast's Boucher Road Playing Fields in 2016, with fans flying in from around the world to catch the performance.
Some of his best-known hits included Wake Me Up!, Le7els, The Days, and You Make Me.
The superstar DJ had in the past suffered from pancreatitis as a result of excessive drinking.
