ASU is calling all artists

The Arts Society of Ulster is preparing for its Annual Open Exhibition.

All artists are welcome to submit work by downloading the relevant forms from their website .

Entry forms must be received by 9th July with selection later in the month.

The preview night is August 27 in Merville House, Merville Garden Village, Newtownabbey, and the exhibition will run untill September 4.

“This is set to be one of our best exhibitions yet,” said Deardre McKibbin, President of the Society.

“Something for all tastes will be guaranteed. We have a great panel of judges in Danny Kinahan MLA of Castle Upton Gallery, Templepatrick and ex Christies representative, Amanda Croft, discerning art historian and lecturer and Dublin based artist Eddie Kennedy who are our panel selecting this year’s show.

"Unlike the Academies, the ASU only allow their full members the choice of one work for automatic display as we have other exhibitions for soley our own Members at other times of the year.

"So everything else is up to the selectors. This is why the ASU is truly looking out for the artists in that this exhibition endeavours, with only minimal preference to our own membership, to give more opportunity for show casing new art than any other current society.”

For further details artists should go to the Arts Society of Ulster website under Annual Exhibition to download forms and to check out the 4 awards that non members can set their hopes on.
