Holy Belfast, what a comic caper!

By Grania McFadden

Odyssey Arena, Belfast, Wednesday to Saturday, October 5-8, 8pm

Fans of the caped crusader should form an orderly queue outside his temporary Batcave as our hero swoops in to town with his trusty counterpart Robin, tireless butler Alfred and a host of other favourites — including The Joker, The Riddler, Catwoman and The Penguin.

This stunning stage show shifts location from Gotham City to Wayne Manor, the Batcave and Arkham Asylum. Faithfully adapted from the DC Comics characters and stories, the plot focuses on Robin’s quest for justice, which leads him to follow in the footsteps of his hero — the mysterious vigilante known as Batman, much to the dismay of his protective guardian, billionaire Bruce Wayne, whom the audience knows is secretly Batman. The production has already generated plenty of buzz for its spectacular sets, and those making their way to the Odyssey Arena will be greeted by a 3D Gotham City landscape, complete with buildings, soundscape and video animation on a 100-foot bat-shaped LED video wall, as well as a 43-strong cast.

It’s a must-see for fans and families everywhere, a must-miss for villians and scoundrels, and all in a day’s crimefighting for a superhero!
