Liam Neeson can be seen rallying a call of support for a Co Antrim-based drama group's upcoming performance of Romeo & Juliet.

The Ballymena actor recorded a video where he tells viewers - in his famous gruff brogue  - to go watch the play which is being jointly produced by the Glens Drama Group and Friends Drama Group this week.

The Friends Drama Group is a support network for families in the Glens area of Co Antrim who have children and young adults with a range of special needs and disabilities.

In the video, Liam says: "You're going to see a very special performance by a very special group of young people. You're in for a great night," before ordering: "Be there, support them, go!"

The short clip was posted on to the Glens Drama Group's Facebook page with the caption: "Omg!!!!!! Having a serious fan meltdown here. Liam Neeson wants you to come to our show!!! Which only means one thing- You MUST BE THERE!"

Fans of Liam were delighted to see the Northern Ireland actor supporting a local production, with one user writing in the comments section: "You may go or Liam will find you," while another added: "I'm going...honestly!"

The production of Romeo & Juliet will take place at the Cusendall Golf Club on Friday, May 11 at 7.30pm. For more information, visit the Glens Drama Group Facebook Page.
