Brought to you in partnership with Ulster Bank, the Belfast Telegraph Business Awards recognise and celebrate the business successes of individuals and organisations across Northern Ireland.
Now in their 17th year, these prestigious awards attract entries from across all sectors and sizes of businesses. The awards are the perfect opportunity to network and recognise the outstanding achievements of the local business community.
The gala awards dinner takes place on Thursday 2nd May 2019 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Shaw’s Bridge, Belfast. Enjoy a drinks reception, pre-dinner entertainment and a 4-course meal, as we celebrate with the best of Northern Ireland businesses at this prestigious black-tie event.

To enter simply choose one of the 13 categories below and complete the entry form. Each category has its own entry criteria, terms and conditions which should be adhered to by entrants.

Excellence in Marketing
'Capturing a bigger and/or a better market'
The Excellence in Marketing Award is designed to reward well-directed marketing by a local company. Showcasing evidence of quantifiable benefits directly resulting from marketing activity using indicators such as increased market share, added value and profitability.
Excellence in Exporting
'Making an impact in the marketplace'
This award is designed to encourage and recognise companies which have generated substantial and sustained increases in export activity (including increased sales to Great Britain).
Excellence in the Development of Management & Leadership
This award is to recognise a sustained commitment to business improvement through the demonstration of leadership and management techniques. It is open to all types of businesses and seeks to encourage the development of excellence through Leadership and Management wherever it is found.
Excellence in Innovation
'Bright new ideas, processes or procedures, strengthening a business'
This award will go to a business where innovation has been a critical part of recent development. To compete and grow in global markets, all companies need to adopt a culture of continuous improvement where constant innovation leads to improved business results.
Best use of Digital and/or Social Media
This will be awarded to the business that demonstrates the best application of digital technologies in the creative industries. The award winner should illustrate how the use of aspects of digital techniques has helped to build their business.
Young Business Person of the Year
This award recognises the outstanding work of young professionals or managers in any aspect of business activity. This category is open for business people, including entrepreneurs and high-flying managers, 35 years and under on 1st April 2019. Entrants should show evidence of making a valuable contribution to business activity in Northern Ireland and show considerable promise as a future leader in business.
IT Company of Team of the Year
This will be awarded to the IT company, or in-house IT team (public, private or voluntary sector) that has shown excellence in developing and / or implementing IT strategy to meet objectives, achieve greater competitiveness, achieve growth, boost profitability, or improve public services during the past 12 months.
Retailer of the Year Award
There are many efficient, well organised retailers across Northern Ireland and the Business Awards will recognise one of the best. The award will be made to a single store without regard to its size - independent or multiple.
Excellence in Workplace Health and well-being Award
This award will be made to an enterprise that has fewer than 250 employees, and able to demonstrate a commitment to an environment where the employees enjoy policies which make a real difference to their health and well-being.
Best Established Small/Medium Business
This category seeks to acknowledge an outstanding small/medium company in Northern Ireland. This category is open to any business with 100 employees or less.
Emerging Business/Start Up of the Year
This category seeks to acknowledge an emerging business or start-up company in any sector of Northern Ireland business. This category is open to any business which has been founded in the last THREE years.
SME Healthcare Business of the Year
This award will recognise businesses in the healthcare sector. The category is open to businesses with under 100 employees related to healthcare, for example, dental practices, opticians, care homes.
Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility
This award rewards a company which has made a significant, positive impact through its involvement in a specific programme or initiative designed to make a demonstrable difference to the community.
Two special judges’ awards, the Lifetime Achievement Award and Overall Business of the Year sponsored by Ulster Bank, will also be awarded.
