The Belfast Telegraph Business Awards, in partnership with Ulster Bank, have taken place at a glittering ceremony at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Belfast.

The longest established business awards in Northern Ireland saw companies of all sizes and sectors awarded for their achievements in the past 12 months.

The awards, which are now in their 16th year, saw two new categories introduced in 2018.

The Excellence in Workplace Health and Well-being awarded to Belfast-based building and maintenance business Flynn focused on how businesses look after their employees, while the new Retailer of the Year Award was presented to long-established Newtownards department store Warden Bros because it excels in customer service.

The Outstanding Business of the Year award went to Belfast-based Novosco, which also won the IT Company of the Year award for the second year in a row, while other winners included Lidl NI, Mackle Pet Foods and newcomer Copeland Spirits.

Meanwhile Chief Executive Officer of Catalyst Inc Dr Norman Apsley received the Lifetime Achievement award.

The panel of judges was chaired by economist Professor John Simpson, while Dr Joanne Stuart, director of development at Catalyst Inc, was deputy chairperson of the panel.

"Each year the Business Awards attract attention from a large audience. Amongst the shortlist and also the winners there are many new names and new faces. The mixture of new names interwoven with other well-known names gives a reassuring picture of a diverse, modern and progressive business world," said John Simpson.
