Entry Requirements

Entry is free and must be completed online via this form. Entries should clearly demonstrate the specialist skills needed to provide clients with top quality service, consistency and best value on a range of work completed during the period from 1st January 2020 – 30th September 2022.

You should submit:

  • A maximum of 1000 words on how you/your organisation / the project or service meet the criteria of the category entered.
  • A pdf of no more than two A4 pages if required, to showcase visually the work outlined in your entry. These should be clearly marked with your category and company name and should otherwise include visuals and captions only.

Award Categories

1. Commercial Estate Agency of the Year

This category is open to Northern Ireland commercial agencies, large and small, established and new, which can demonstrate excellence in their service offering, business success and their special innovation in any area of business; technical, financial, communications, marketing etc.

To support your application you should:

  • Show evidence of market presence in your specific region.
  • Provide an overview of commercial activity in the last two years and show evidence of growth from 1st January 2020 to 30th September 2022.
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered results for your clients to meet their needs. 
  • Demonstrate innovation in your business.
  • Identify any outstanding projects.

2. Commercial Development of the Year

This category is open to developers (either operating within Northern Ireland or to Northern Ireland-based developers carrying out work outside Northern Ireland).

To support your application you should:

  • Provide evidence of the fitness for purpose, aesthetics, and quality of the development.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying demands. 
  • Demonstrate innovation and initiative.
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver project to budget and on time.
  • Where appropriate provide evidence of occupancy/usage/commercial success.

3. Property Deal of the Year

This category recognises the most outstanding investment property deal completed by a Northern Ireland based investor or seller for a property located either in, or external to, Northern Ireland in the last two years.

To support your application:

  • Identify the key aspects of the deal which demonstrate its success.
  • Provide evidence of an imaginative approach to establishing the deal.
  • Demonstrate how your approach added value to the successful delivery of the deal.

4. Commercial Fit-out of the Year

This category is open to industry suppliers and will award entrants who can demonstrate outstanding innovation, quality, and service and customer satisfaction. Open to entrants who have either been involved in the design, planning, office refurbishment or original fit-out of a commercial interior. e.g retail, office, hospitality.

To support your application you should:

  • Demonstrate the fit-outs ability to contribute to the well-being and productivity of the workforce using the building.
  • Demonstrate the highest standards in the quality of design, workmanship and materials. 
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying client demands.
  • Demonstrate innovation and initiative. 
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver project to budget, on time and delivering value for money.

5. Architectural Practice of the Year

(1) Commercial (2) Residential

The key criterion for this category is that the practice should demonstrate design excellence, that its work is fit for purpose and is sustainable.

To support your application you should:

  • Provide an overview of commercial or residential activity and show evidence of growth from 1st January 2020 – 30th September 2022.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying client requirements. 
  • Demonstrate innovation and initiative. 
  • Demonstrate ability to deliver projects to budget, brief and time scale. 
  • Identify any outstanding projects.

6. Residential Estate Agency of the Year

(1) Sole Branch (2) Multi Branch

This category is open to Northern Ireland residential agencies, large and small, established and new, which can demonstrate excellence in their service offering, business success and their special innovation in any area of business; technical, financial, communications, marketing etc.

To support your application you should:

  • Show evidence of market presence in your specific region.
  • Provide an overview of residential activity and show evidence of growth from 1st January 2020 - 30th - September 2022.
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered results to meet your clients needs. 
  • Demonstrate innovation in your business. 
  • Demonstrate how you have developed staff skills to meet emerging trends and challenges in the industry.

7. Residential Lettings Agency of the Year

Open to any stand-alone residential property management/lettings company or a division within a company. It is not an award for an individual. The category covers agencies’ management departments, block management departments and larger groups’ management divisions.

To support your application you should:

  • Provide an overview of management activity in the last year.
  • Provide an overview of letting rent review and lease renewal activity on behalf of landlords/ tenants in the last year. 
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered best in class service. 
  • Demonstrate how you are responding to emerging trends in the residential letting sector.

8. Residential Development of the Year

Open to all developers operating within Northern Ireland (or to Northern Ireland-based developers carrying out work outside Northern Ireland). The judges will seek to identify the developer who has demonstrated a commitment to providing solutions to challenges and satisfying demands. Demonstrating innovation and initiative is desirable. The judging panel will look for regeneration features, identified needs and demand for the development, whether or not it achieved and met the demand and what its social and environmental impact is.

To support your application:

  • Provide evidence of the fitness for purpose, the overall social impact, aesthetics and quality of the development.
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered value for money. 
  • Provide evidence of occupancy/usage.
  • Provide evidence of corporate social responsibility, community support and any engagement with parties external to the development interests. 
  • Provide evidence of innovation in design.

 9. Best Interior Design of the Year

This category focuses on interior design projects and recognises not only the achievement for the budget but also functionality, quality and aesthetics. Projects can include a single room, several rooms, or a whole property in either a private residence or development show home.

To support your application you should:

  • Demonstrate how you have achieved the ‘wow’ factor.
  • Demonstrate how your design solution met the brief and the budget available. 
  • Demonstrate innovative thinking to overcome challenges within the project.

10. Best Property Marketing of the Year

This category is open to Northern Ireland commercial and residential agencies who can demonstrate a creative and successful approach to marketing individual properties or schemes.

To support your application:

  • Describe your campaign identifying objectives, target markets and platforms used.
  • Identify any innovative or creative elements of the campaign. 
  • Provide evidence of the successful outcome of the campaign.

11. Innovative Use of Smarthome Technology

This category is open to designers/builders/architects within Northern Ireland who have demonstrated the innovative use of smarthome technology in house design.

To support your application:

  • Show evidence of the products that have been integrated in the design and how they have been applied.
  • Demonstrate how your approach has added value to the house through for example increased efficiency, control and customisation. 
  • Provide evidence how the technology enhances modern living and the adaptability of the building.

12. Young Agent of the Year

This category recognises the excellent work of young professionals in either the commercial or residential property sectors. Should there be sufficient entries, the judges may present separate awards to commercial and residential property agents. This category is for property agents aged 30 years old and under as of 30th Sept 2022 who make a valuable contribution to the companies they work for and show considerable promise as future leaders of the industry. This is an award for individual members of staff. You may enter this category yourself or nominate a colleague.

To support your application you should:

  • Detail career background.
  • Demonstrate key successes and personal achievements in the last year of business. 
  • Provide examples of enthusiasm, innovation, implementation and leadership qualities displayed by the nominee. 
  • Outline why you believe the young agent is an industry name to watch.

Judges may wish to contact your current employer for a reference so please include name and contact details.

13. Young Architect of the Year

This category recognises the excellent work of young professionals in either the commercial or residential property sectors. This category is for architects aged 35 years old and under as of 30th Sept 2022 who make a valuable contribution to the companies they work for and show considerable promise as future leaders of the industry. This is an award for individual members of staff. You may enter this category yourself or nominate a colleague.

To support your application you should:

  • Detail career background.
  • Demonstrate key successes and personal achievements in the last year of business. 
  • Provide examples of enthusiasm, innovation, implementation and leadership qualities displayed by the nominee.
  • Outline why you believe the young architect is an industry name to watch. 
  • Judges may wish to contact your current employer for a reference so please include name and contact details.

14. Best Property Management Company

Open to management companies or companies with a block management department of any size who manage a portfolio of residential developments in Northern Ireland.

To support your application you should:

  • Provide an overview of management activity in the period from 1st January 2020 – 30th September 2022.
  • Demonstrate innovation in your approach to property management. 
  • Show how challenges with leaseholders and management companies were met and overcome. 
  • Demonstrate how you have delivered value for money.

15. Property Legal Team of the Year

This category is open to all law firms that practice in either residential and/or commercial property transactions.  The law firm does not have to specialise in property transactions, but must show a depth of knowledge and level of expertise in property, ranging from junior paralegals up to partner level.

 To support your application you should:

  • Provide evidence of growth in your property department.
  • Identify any key transactions which you regard as particularly successful and describe the impact on your business.
  • Outline how you have developed your staff with regard to delivering your services.
  • Describe how your team stands out in the Northern Ireland legal property market.

16. Climate Company of the Year

This category is open to any business connected to the property sector including construction, estate agents, architects etc.  It seeks to recognise initiatives taken to improve the sector’s environmental credentials.

To support your application you should:

  • Show evidence of any schemes, initiatives or strategies which focus on tackling the climate crisis.
  • Demonstrate commitment to reducing/managing resource consumption.
  • Provide evidence of the positive impact of your activities/policies.
