Having funded local home ownership here for more than 100 years, Progressive Building Society has a proud local history of providing savings and mortgage products to its members.

The society works with local estate agents supporting both first-time buyers and home-movers to purchase their properties.

Speaking ahead of the Belfast Telegraph Property Awards on Friday, Darina Armstrong, chief executive of Progressive Building Society, said: 'We are delighted to be once again sponsoring the Residential Estate Agency of the Year category as we recognise the invaluable work estate agents put into helping both first-time buyers and home-movers purchase their new home.

"We provide value for money products which enable members' savings to fund local home ownership in Northern Ireland. Like estate agents we also work towards helping people fulfil their dream of owning their own home.

"We aim to meet the needs of all our members, whatever their circumstances, and fully understand the need to be flexible."

Darina continued: "Through our partnership with Ulster University, estate agents provide us with in-depth analysis of the local housing market which features in the Northern Ireland Quarterly House Price Index.

"Estate agents' knowledge, insight and expertise of the housing market has enabled us to develop a review of the market in order to provide the most relevant and up to date information allowing house purchasers to make informed choices."

Despite political and economic upheaval at a local and national level, the latest housing market figures highlight that the Northern Ireland residential sector is in a relatively healthy position.

Continued confidence among estate agents and the wider industry shows that the outlook is positive for the housing market in 2019 and a sustainable local housing market can be maintained.

Darina added: "Ahead of the event on November 16 I want to wish all those shortlisted in the Residential Estate Agent category the very best of luck and we are looking forward to presenting the award to the overall winner."
