Little Oscar Knox has a won-derful night at Spirit of Northern Ireland Awards
It all started with a tweet and so last weekend it was fitting that little Oscar Knox took to Twitter to tell his thousands of supporters why he was crowned the 2013 Sunday Life Spirit of Northern Ireland Award winner.
“Because I won the game,” was the tot’s response when asked why he believed he had been the toast of the biggest awards night of the year in Northern Ireland.
Little Oscar has indeed won the game —against all odds he has beat the aggressive cancer which was threatening his life and which has claimed the lives of so many children.
Wee Oscar from Mallusk in Newtownabbey has come through more in his four years than most of us will ever expect to face in a lifetime and all with an endearing smile on his face.
Despite what he has had to endure battling a rare childhood cancer, the tot’s courage not only gave his family the strength to cope but warmed the hearts of many thousands of people across Ireland and beyond.
