London was flooded with a sea of green this afternoon as the annual St Patrick's Day parade cut a colourful swathe through the city's streets.
Led by the Grand Marshall - Northern Ireland's own world champion boxer Barry McGuigan - the parade made its way from the apt starting point at Green Park tube station to Trafalgar Square.
"It's a real honour to be here, this is the capital of the world, the Irish have a tremendously harmonious relationship with the UK," Mr McGuigan told ITV news.
Ahead of the parade, Mayor of London Boris Johnson defended his decision to continue funding the annual event.
"Once again we defied the gradgrinds and the penny pinchers with no poetry in their soul and once again we are pushing the boat out for St Patrick's Day," he said.
Mr Johnson urged everyone to journey to Trafalgar Square to enjoy everything the Irish community contributes to London.
