Belfast police groups select leaders

TWO of Belfast's four sub-groups of the District Policing Partnership have selected their chairmen and deputy chairmen.

TWO of Belfast's four sub-groups of the District Policing Partnership have selected their chairmen and deputy chairmen.

At its initial meeting earlier this month, the North Belfast Sub-Group of the partnership elected Seamus Lynch as chairman. Councillor David Browne was elected deputy.

The partnership's East Belfast Sub-Group elected Councillor Robin Newton as chairman and Deirdre Mac Bride as deputy. Elections to the positions of chairman and deputy chairman of the South and West Sub-Groups will take place in early May.

The first public meeting of the main Belfast partnership will take place in the City Hall at 7pm on Thursday, May 1.

Members of the public are welcome to all public meetings , at which the Police Service of Northern Ireland district commanders will present reports on the policing of the city and respond to questions.

Members of the public have the right to ask questions of the police, through the chairman of the partnership. All questions must be submitted in writing and are welcomed from anyone living or working in the city or anyone directly affected by policing in the city.

The first public meeting of the East Belfast sub-group will be held in the City Hall on May 8 and of the North Belfast sub-group on May 12.
