Baha'is off to Israel

TWO Northern Ireland Baha'is, George Fleming and Marion Khorravi, will be among thousands attending the opening of the Terraces of the Baha'i Gardens in Haifa, Israel later this month.

"It will bring together what you might call a sea of human colour and culture," George said.

Service for seafarers THE annual Memorial Service for Seafarers and Act of Remembrance for the Battle of the Atlantic is next Sunday at Saint George's Church, Belfast (3pm).

India appeal over £675,000 THE Presbyterian appeal for earthquake-hit Gujarat in India has reached £675,000, the biggest response to an emergency the church has had.

Moderator Trevor Morrow said the money would help provide new homes for Christian families, relief and development work, and repair of hospitals, schools and church property.

Faith mission goes on tape Audio and video tapes are being made of the Easter Faith Mission in Bangor in an attempt to involve hundreds more people.

A total of 18 meetings were held - one in the open air --over the weekend, and with people being turned away from attending the Easter Monday service in Hamilton Road Presbyterian Church and sent instead to First Bangor or Trinity Presbyterian churches where convention services were also being held.

A choir which performed on the Sunday consisted of students from Northern Ireland, Eire, England, Scotland, Canada, Switzerland, America, Korea and Italy.

This is the main highlight of Faith Mission work in Ireland, although other Conventions held throughout the North and South are also well supported.

Church to re-open CRAIGAVON Presbyterian church has re-opened almost a year after it was badly damaged in an arson attack _ the third in 13 years, for which no one has been charged.

The final cost of the refurbishment work is being put at around £250,000, of which the congregation have to find £50,000.

Minister the Rev Andrew Thompson said: "We have been staggered and moved by the tremendous care and encouragement we have received."
