To the point

TOO LATE: I have been reading with interest the articles on 'the end of the world' in the Belfast Telegraph. As Baha'is we have a much more positive outlook to all this. We believe that those looking for the 'return of Christ' are more than 150 years too late.

The followers of William Miller had the right year _ 1844 _ but the wrong expected event: not the end of the world but the return of the Spirit of Christ. Baha'is believe that the breakdown in society is all tied in with the end of the Old World order and the New World order is now being spread in its place.

The 'end of the world' is not the physical destruction of the earth but the end of the violence, inquality, prejudices, etc. In other words, the establishment of the Kingdom of God on Earth that Christians are paying for.
