ULSTER will have l5 nominees in the running for All Stars when the annual

GAA presentation banquet is held in Dublin next month.

GAA presentation banquet is held in Dublin next month.

Twelve footballers and three hurlers from the province are in line for the coveted honours with Ulster champions Tyrone, not suprisingly, providing the bulk of the football candidates.

Seven players from the Red Hand county _ Finbar McConnell, Paul Devlin, Fay Devlin, Pascal and Peter Cavanan, Gerard Cavlan and Brian Dooher _ are all in the running.

They will be joined by four Derry players _ Kieran McKeever, Tony Scullion, Anthony Tohill and Joe Brolly _ while Gregory McCartan will be Down's sole representative.

There is due recognition too for Fermanagh's outstanding young forward Raymond Gallagher while Donegal's Tony Boyle and Cavan's Dermot McCabe also gain nominations.

The three Ulster hurlers who have been short-listed are long-serving Antrim ace Terence McNaughton, veteran Down goalkeeper Noel Keath and Derry mid-fielder Ollie Collins.

The All Star scheme, which is underwritten by Powerscreen, is now very much the domain of the players with the votes cast by all those who took part in this year's Provincial and Championship series.
