LOCAL members of the Baha'i faith have welcomed the widow of one of the religion's foremost scholars to the North West.

LOCAL members of the Baha'i faith have welcomed the widow of one of the religion's foremost scholars to the North West.

Lesley Taherzadeh's late husband was not only a scholar but also served on the Universal House of Justice, which is the ruling body of the faith, until his death in 2000.

The couple moved to Haifa in northern Israel, the headquarters of the House of Justice, when Mr Taherzadeh was elected to the body.

On her visit to the North West, Mrs Taherzadeh gave a talk to local members of the faith about life in Israel. Mr Taherzadeh was one of only nine members of the House of Justice.
