Dare to Dazzle: Get ready to party with these gems

It's the season to sparkle with the pick of the latest sequins

Whether you favour subtle embellishments on your cuffs, shoes or bags or all-over shimmer, the high street has a stellar collection of show-stopping sequins to brighten those dark winter nights.

Add a touch of glamour to your outfit with a sequinned clutch bag or sparkly top. But if you prefer full-on disco-diva style sequins, there are hundreds of party frocks, skirts and tops to choose from. Even lingerie is given the sparkle treatment this season.

Flashes of sequins and intricate beadwork lit up the autumn/winter 2014 catwalks, with designers like Narciso Rodriguez, DKNY and Jenny Packham turning heads with their twinkly collections. Even Victoria Beckham, queen of minimalistic chic, threw in some surprise shine.

Celebrities who have been stepping out in sequins recently include Kylie Minogue, Taylor Swift, Lily Allen and Olivia Palermo.

And while it's a look normally reserved for the party season, sequins are making an appearance this winter on everything from T-shirts to ballet pumps.

Metallic shades and jewel tones are all over the High Street, too, so look out for sequins in gold, silver, black, blue, red and green.

But to avoid resembling a brightly-lit Christmas tree, think balance - keep accessories simple if you're wearing a sequinned party dress or glam up a daytime look with a sequinned clutch or court shoes.
