Alicia Silverstone was Clueless to give away movie clothes
The tomboy actress had no idea about fashion 20 years ago, even though she played one of the most style-conscious characters ever to hit the big screen.
Alicia Silverstone regrets giving away the clothes she took home from the Clueless set 20 years ago.
The actress reveals she stocked her closets with designer fashion from the film, but didn't keep hold of any of it.
"I took so much of the clothes and I'm really sad because I don't have any of them anymore because, like a ding dong, I got home with so many of the clothes and I was like, 'How am I going to wear these Mary Janes out now?'" she tells news show Entertainment Tonight.
"That girl who wore jeans and a green T-shirt didn't know how to transition out of that wardrobe, so I just gave a lot of it away. I don't have any of it."
Alicia is a lot more style savvy now she's in her 40s, but she admits while she was making the hit 1995 movie, she could not understand why her character Cher's costume fittings were taking so long.
"I just didn't get fashion at all," Silverstone adds. "I was just kind of a tomboy and I just wasn't into it, so when we had the fittings, I was just like, 'What is going on? Why am I in these fittings for so long?' I just didn't get it until I saw the movie and I was just like, 'Oh, I get it! The costumes are the star of the movie!'"
The actress is not interested in reviving her airhead character for a sequel two decades later, but she did recently show up at a screening of Clueless at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles and chatted with fans.
