Angelina Jolie wins for style at Golden Globes
Angelina Jolie, Eva Longoria Parker and Anne Hathaway were among the best-dressed women at last night’s Golden Globe Awards.
The ceremony was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles, and while host Ricky Gervais shocked with his risqué humour, it was the dresses which most people had their eyes on.
There wasn’t one look which dominated proceedings, with Hollywood stars opting for many different styles, colours and lengths.
Angelina drew one of the biggest gasps of the evening, ditching her usual black for an emerald green Atelier Versace gown with long sleeves which sparkled against the red carpet. She finished the look with Robert Procop jewellery, and was immediately placed on the night’s best-dressed lists.
Anne looked stunning in a figure-hugging, nude Armani Privé gown, which was awash with crystals. The frock featured puffed shoulders and long sleeves, and Anne accessorised with a Roger Vivier clutch and Brian Atwood platforms.
Her stylist Rachel Zoe was thrilled with the feedback the look received, writing on Twitter: “So happy you all are loving Anne H tonight in Armani Privé! I DIE for her look tonight and thrilled you do too..she is flawless! xoRZ (sic).”
Eva opted for a black dress, but the robe was anything but safe. The Zac Posen design featured a plunging neckline, belt detailing and a kick hem. She was one of several women to take to the red carpet following a high-profile split, with Christina Aguilera’s beaded Zuhair Murad strapless dress winning her admiring glances too.
Scarlett Johansson chose a blush, beaded Elie Saab frock, which looked elegant when combined with her perfect up-do.
The look was similar to that chosen by Sandra Bullock, who is also single. She showed off her newly cut, blunt-fringe hair with a Jenny Packham dress in nude with silver detailing.
The evening had its fair share of princess dresses too, with Catherine Zeta-Jones deciding on a flouncy forest green Monique Lhuillier ballgown. The dress was strapless and tumbled over the floor, suiting the actress perfectly. Olivia Wilde wore a dark brown Marchesa gown, topped off with golden sparkles.
