Belfast Fashion Spy: 'Mila Kunis is edgy but Kim Kardashian shows off too much'
Our reporter checks out the style in Belfast city centre and finds plenty of fashionable people out and about.
Shannon Carson (18)
Monthly spend £20
Wore what? Jacket, £25, H&M; top, £3, Primark; trousers, £45, and bag, £40, both from River Island; brogues, £35, Pull And Bear.
Why? I like to be a little bit different and edgy. I'm not too girly, though — I do wear dresses but I don't go overboard with pink. Nor would I wear a crop top — it reveals too much flesh.
Who? Mila Kunis has a nice, slightly edgy look but Kim Kardashian shows things off a bit too much for my liking.
Rebecca Smylie (20)
Monthly spend £200-300
Wore what? Coat, £70, Zara; bag, £1,400, Prada; jeans, £50, Jack Wills; wedges, £70, Office; top, £30, Topshop.
Why? My style is quite classic but feminine and I’m not afraid of a pink coat. I never really wear patterns, however, and you’d never see me in leopard print.
Who I love Kate Middleton’s conservative style, and I also like how Olivia Palermo dresses. I don’t like Jessie J’s style at all — it’s just too dark.
Rebecca Elliott (19)
Monthly spend £150
Wore what? Jacket, £40, and bag, £45, both from River Island; vest, £3, Primark; trousers, £15, Miss Selfridge; sandals, £20, Topshop.
Why? My style is colourful, but smart and I like nice jackets. I never wear neon colours as they look cheap.
Who? I like Fearne Cotton's style as she's a little bit different. I don't like Miley Cyrus's clothes as they're too revealing for my taste.
Cara McKnight (31)
Monthly spend £50-100
Concession manager, Belfast
Wore what? Dress, £20, jacket, £100, both from Topshop; bag, £40, Urban Outfitters; pumps, £4, Primark.
Why? My style is vintage, but quite girly — I don’t own any trousers. I really don’t like those wedge trainers as I don’t think they’re very flattering.
Who? I really like Dita Von Teese’s style. And I admire Taylor Swift, too. I’m not keen on the footballers wives’ look worn by Abbey Clancy.
Catherine Doherty (28)
Monthly spend £150
Laboratory assistant, Lisburn
Wore what? Tunic, £17, New Look; jeggings, £5, and shoes, £6, both from Primark; bag, Aldo, £30.
Why? My style is relaxed and colourful. I’m not keen on clothes that show off too much flesh though — I think girls shouldn’t bare all.
Who? Cheryl Cole looks really well and wears lots of colour. Kelly Osbourne takes things too far though and looks over the top.
