Belfast Fashion Spy: 'Miranda Kerr is classy, but Geordie Shore girls wear far too much fake tan'

Our reporter Ali Gordon checks out the style in Victoria Square, Belfast.

Rebecca McCormick (21) Shop assistant, Belfast:

Wore what? Coat, £5, Primark; scarf, £7.99, jumper, £12.99, H&M; shoes, £6, Primark; jeans, £42, River Island; bag, £250, Michael Kors.

Why? I like bright colours, like orange, and pieces that match. I'm trying to be a bit more summery, but the weather isn't co-operating.

Who? I love how Alexa Chung wears simple clothes while still looking attractive, like skinny jeans and trench coats. I avoid anything grungy.

Nikki Hill (30) Beautician, Lurgan:

Wore what? Jacket, £12, choker, £3, sandals, £10, all from Primark; top, £16, Tesco; jeans, £19, H&M.

Why? I like statement pieces that dress things up a bit, like my choker. I also enjoy using colour, whether it’s a jacket, a bag or a necklace, to brighten up bland outfits.

Who? I don’t have any favourite style icon. I just buy lots of clothes as and when I like them. Mind you, Katie Price’s outfits are too revealing.

Laura Galloway (20) Student, Strangford:

Wore what? Coat, £30, H&M; blazer, £30, trousers, £20, shoes £25, all New Look; bag, £300, Michael Kors.

Why? I don’t really have a specific style — I just buy things that I like and put them together. Today I’m on work placement, though, so my look is a bit dressier than usual.

Who? I probably wouldn’t dress like Cara Delevingne, but she’s got her own distinctive sense of style which I like. Kim Kardashian is far too predictable — she’s so manicured.

Siobhan Doherty (39) Office assistant, Luton:

Wore what? Blazer, £25, Debenhams; top, £13, jeans, £10, shoes, £10, all New Look.

Why? I try to be stylish, but comfortable, too. I love a bargain, so I’m always searching on the high street in places like New Look.

Who? Victoria Beckham always looks nice. There isn’t a celebrity’s look that I particularly dislike. However, I do avoid shopping in Monsoon because the clothes are a bit older.

Shannon Slevin (28) Solicitor, Belfast:

Wore what? Coat, £50, Warehouse; scarf, £20, French Connection; top, £20, Zara; jeans, £17, TK Maxx; bag, £1,000, Marc Jacobs; boots are from Australia.

Why? When I’m out shopping, I like something I can walk around in. I like pastels and floral prints, just like my scarf.

Who? Miranda Kerr is very classy and sophisticated. The girls from Geordie Shore wear far too much fake tan and have too much on show for my liking.
