Blake Lively rocked real gold manicure at 2017 Met Gala
Celebrity nail technician Elle created the gilded manicure looks for Blake Lively and Jennifer Lopez to sport at the 2017 Met Gala.
Blake Lively's manicure for the 2017 Met Gala featured real 24 karat gold.
The Cafe Society actress made an appearance at the fashion extravaganza held at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute in New York on Monday night (01May17), looking glamorous in a custom-made Atelier Versace gold gown with bright blue feathered train.
Blake, who was joined by her actor husband Ryan Reynolds, also wore Lorraine Schwartz jewellery and topped off the look with very special gilded nails.
"I wanted the look to be clean, but also opulent," nail technician Elle told Us Weekly's Stylish, adding that she used a beige L'Oreal Paris nail polish as base before brushing on the gold dust to create an ombre effect. "It creates crazy shine - it looks like an actual piece of jewellery that becomes one on your nail."
Elle, who counts models Chrissy Teigen and Gigi Hadid among her other clients, also created a luxe look for superstar Jennifer Lopez to wear to the glitzy event. To match Jennifer's light blue '70s-inspired Valentino gown, the manicurist used a pink-beige hue as a base coat, before dabbing on a little of the 24 karat gold dust on the nails of her pinky and ring fingers.
"She chose the placement of the pinky and ring fingers and it was just so right," said Elle.
Nail art was taken up by several other A-listers at the glitzy bash, with Katy Perry sporting a red manicure with eye motifs by nail technician Sarah Nguyen, which perfectly matched her avant-garde Maison Margiela gown. While Rihanna dared to complement her pink and red Comme des Garcons ensemble with a seafoam blue manicure by artist Maria Salandra, which featured pastel details and an intricate gold pattern at the tip of each nail.
