Chopard Trophy winner Anya Taylor-Joy talks Cannes style
Anya Taylor-Joy hated the corset she had to wear for BBC miniseries The Miniaturist at first.
Anya Taylor-Joy's stylist made her try on her Cannes outfits at three in the morning.
The Split actress, who was born in America but raised in the U.K., has been making her mark in Hollywood with a number of horror movies, and has also been turning heads on the red carpet.
The 2017 Cannes Film Festival is Anya's first, and on Monday (22May17) she picked up the Chopard Trophy, which is awarded to promising young talent at the annual event.
"I packed at three in the morning (for Cannes)," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "Which is also how I tried these dresses on for the first time, so it's quite funny. My stylist, Ilaria Urbinati, has photographs of me at three in the morning looking very grumpy in these beautiful gowns. So I'm happy that I'm here and wearing them with love.
"I'm away from London for the next nine months and so I just threw things into a bag and now I'm praying that I have everything I need."
For the prizegiving, Anya stunned in a chest-baring Miu Miu dress and dazzling Chopard jewellery. She was joined by fellow winner George MacKay at the Chopard terrace atop the Martinez hotel in Cannes.
Charlize Theron presented the award, with Salma Hayek, Juliette Binoche, and Andie MacDowell also in attendance.
Anya is jetting straight to the set of X-Men: New Mutants from Cannes, but before her next big screen outing, fans can catch her in BBC miniseries The Miniaturist.
"It's so crazy because I wasn't prepared for the corsets," the 21-year-old said of her costumes on the show.
"I didn't expect the way it would just change everything. The first three days I was like literally I cannot do this job, I am in proper pain. And then the corset gave a little bit and then I gave a little bit and now we are friends."
