Daniel Craig masterminds James Bond’s wardrobe
James Bond costume designer Jany Temime chose Tom Ford suits for actor Daniel Craig as they show how “active” he is.
Daniel Craig takes a hands-on approach when it comes to picking his James Bond wardrobe.
Earlier this month (Aug17), it was confirmed that the British actor will reprise the role of 007 for a final time in upcoming movie Bond 25, which marks his fifth film in the franchise.
Costume designer Jany Temime is hoping to be back on board to dress Daniel, 49, as dapper as she can, but she’s revealed to WWD that the star has plenty ideas of his own when it comes to his suave alter ego.
“He loves clothes, he knows about clothes and he knows what’s good for the part,” the French style expert explained. “He knows exactly what James Bond will wear and why.”
Jany further pointed out that Daniel’s toned physique works perfectly in Tom Ford suits, with the designer himself creating bespoke outfits for the films. The fictional MI6 agent previously rocked Brioni attire, but Tom stepped in when it came to 2008’s Quantum of Solace, Daniel’s second outing as the spy.
“I wanted something a little bit near to the body - something slim - because I wanted to show how active he is,” Jany added. “I went to Tom Ford and they did exactly what I wanted. I think it’s very good for Bond because you see him moving. When he was running you could see the muscles under the trousers.”
Tom was so inspired by the hero that he even dedicated a capsule collection to Bond last year (16), full of sleek suits and tuxedos exuding the same vibe given off by the secret agent.
“He has excellent ideas (for the wardrobe) because he feels the part,” Jany said of Daniel’s involvement. “If I have the chance of being chosen (for Bond 25) I will keep the same silhouette, but I will certainly bring an evolution.”
