Elle Fanning can't get enough of Rodarte and Miu Miu

Actress Elle Fanning is inspired by Cate Blanchett's edgy but elegant style.

Fashion darling Elle Fanning has likened luxury labels Rodarte and Miu Miu to characters in a film.

Actress Elle often turns to Rodarte's style sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy when looking for a red carpet dress, and even acts as one of their muses.

The blonde star also favours Italian brand Miu Miu, which she chose to wear to this year's (17) Met Gala, and has teamed up with the label for numerous campaigns.

"Rodarte and Miu Miu are like characters in a film," she gushed to Vogue.

The 19-year-old is also a Valentino fan, and got to wear one of the fashion house's dresses to the Cannes Film Festival last year (16).

"I was basically just walking around with it flared," she recalled in her interview of how she spread her skirt for the cameras.

For showbiz parties and awards shows, The Neon Demon star normally opts for ethereal and floaty gowns. But when she's off-duty her style is much more relaxed, and she describes her look as a mix between "a unicorn flower child, a school boy, and the occasional Cali surfer dude".

However, she takes her red carpet looks seriously, and admits she puts a certain amount of pressure on herself because she loves and respects fashion. This includes opting for colour over plain black gowns, so she doesn't "blend into all the black dresses in the room".

As for her style icon, Elle looks up to Cate Blanchett, whom she views as being confident, edgy and elegant.
