Fashion Spy: love how Daphne Guinness dresses but I don't like Rita Ora's look

Kerry McKittrick discovers fashion influences on the streets of Belfast

By Kerry McKittrick

Our reporter checks out the style in Belfast city centre and finds plenty of stylish people out and about.

Laura Simpson (29)

Monthly spend £300-400

Marketing Manager, Belfast

Wore what? Dress, £60, Monsoon; jacket, £45,; shoes, £90, Kurt Geiger; bag, £55, online boutique.

Why? I like to keep colours quite simple and mix and match different textures. I never wear trousers nor would I never wear a parka jacket – they look scruffy.

Who? I love how Daphne Guinness dresses but I don't like Rita Ora's look, I don't think it suits her.

Rachel Houston (24)

Monthly spend £200

Travel Agent, Belfast

Wore what? T-shirt, £16, jeans, £38, boots, £80, all from Topshop; necklace, £8, Primark.

Why? My style is quite simple, but I’ll brighten things up with accessories. I don't like white trainers — they always end up looking| a little dirty.

Who? Blake Lively could throw on anything and look perfect. I don't like Katy Perry's style because it's a little too over the top for me.

Jane McKay (22)

Monthly spend £150

Trainee solicitor, Belfast

Wore what? Jacket, £40, shirt, £18, both from Next; trousers, £46, Topshop; pumps, £12, New Look; bag, £45, River Island.

Why? My style is quite classic with a little bit of an edge. I really don't like flared jeans or wedges as they make your legs look frumpy.

Who? Kate Moss is really well dressed, but I'm not keen on Jordan. I know she’s an obvious choice to not like, but she does look so tacky.

Claire Armour (22)

Monthly spend £200

Hairdresser, Maghera

Wore what? Jacket, £60, Oasis; T-shirt, £20,; jeans, £45, River Island; boots, £26, Dunnes; bag, present, Michael Kors.

Why? My style is casual, co-ordinated and quite comfortable. I prefer fitted clothes to the loose and baggy styles that are in right now.

Who? Rachel Bilson always looks lovely and up-to-date. I don't like Alexa Chung’s style at all, particularly all those chunky boots that she wears.

Victoria Craig-Martin (25)

Monthly spend £300-400

Sales assistant, Belfast

Wore what? Coat, £55, Next; dress, £35 and bag, £40 both from River Island; shoes, £45, Quiz.

Why? I like to be girly and to dress up a bit. I wouldn't vary my style that much, though. I don't like clumpy footwear like Doc Marten’s.

Who? I really like Beyonce's style — she's a curvy girl like me who isn't afraid to experiment. I don't like Nicki Minaj as her style is far too out there.
