Get Keira Knightley's stunning Holywood look

Paddy McGurgan reveals the tricks to getting this stunning Hollywood star’s latest, understated look.

This week I’m loving Keira Knightley. The critically acclaimed actress has appeared in films including Bend it like Beckham and Pirates of the Caribbean and this month her latest movie, A Dangerous Method, hits the big screen. Set just before the First World War, Knightley plays Sabina Spielrein, one of the first female psychoanalysts.

Knightley — the new face of Chanel — looks as stunning as ever in the film with volumised luscious locks, rosy cheeks and earthy tones such as brown, gold or plum on the eyes.

Here’s my guide to getting Keira’s Hollywood look ...

During the chilly winter months it’s important to look after your skin. Try Pond’s Triple Action Moisturiser, a favourite of Kylie Minogue. The anti-wrinkle solution with added Vitamins A and E diminishes the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, leaving skin looking firmer and feeling silky soft. A lovely light cream, it also provides a natural glow and keeps skin hydrated. Plus, it’s suitable for all skin types and only costs a fiver. A definite must-have to get your skin though the cold days, this also creates a fresh base for the Keira look.

To achieve Keira’s fresh-faced glow, try using Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks by Bobbi Brown — Glamour magazine’s Power Product and the winner of Instyle’s Best Beauty Buy for 2011. Available in four different shades, this works on all skin tones. One of the most popular shades, Cabo Coral, gives a gorgeous pink hue and is perfect for Keira’s skin type. Gently apply the product on the apples of your cheeks and blend along the cheekbones with fingertips for a very Dangerous Method look. This can be used to rosy up the lips, too.

Keira uses neutral-coloured eyeshadows mixed with slightly darker accents of plum and brown to work the English rose look. By using Urban Decay’s Naked Palette you can achieve this look too, as it contains 12 elegant natural colours, ranging from beige to peach and gold to grey. As well as the huge colour range, the palette includes eyeshadows of all different textures, ranging from glitter to matte. There is something to suit everyone and every occasion. It includes a Good Karma Eyeshadow Brush and a travel sized eyeshadow primer potion so it is the perfect on-the-go tool to achieve the look you are after.

For the eyelashes, Shiseido’s new Perfect Full Definition captures, lengthens and defines every lash for a beautifully separated and lustrous finish. This hard-working, smudge-proof mascara will last all day but is easily removed with warm water.

To get volume in the roots like Keira’s style, I highly recommend Ojon Dry Recovery Hydrating Volumizing Foam. Ojon have a range of volumising products, but this is my favourite — not only does it enhance volume, giving your hair bounce and body, but it also keeps it hydrated. Containing vitamin E, aloe leaf extract and wheat protein, it will give your hair a long-lasting shape to cope with those long film-star hours like Keira’s.

Opi Femme De Cirque in Spotlight Pink is a soft wash, fresh and girly colour, perfect for the understated First World War look. Opi is well-known for its fabulous polish and this elegant shade is one of its bestsellers. It dries quickly and will last days without chipping.

The Finishing Touch

Keira Knightly is the latest face of Coco Mademoiselle, the beautifully feminine fragrance by Chanel.

In its elegant glass bottle with a pearl ribbon around the neck, a spray of this perfume is the perfect finishing touch for any would-be English rose.
