Give your cosmetics a Lydia Bright new makeover

Want to get glam like the TOWIE beauty? These are the make-up essentials Lydia can't live without

By Katie Wright

It's hard to believe TOWIE beauty Lydia Bright wasn't exactly a dab hand with a blusher brush at the start of her TV career.

"Should you ever stumble upon one of my early TOWIE episodes you'll rightly argue that make-up wasn't my forte," admits Lydia Bright. "I didn't have a clue what I was doing. In fact, 'contouring' was a word I would have associated with my dad's tiling company, not my cheekbones."

But she's come a long way since debuting on The Only Way is Essex in 2010, and now Lydia is nothing short of a beauty icon, with her nearly 2 million followers on Instagram and Twitter regularly asking for hair and make-up advice whenever the blonde beauty posts a particularly stunning selfie.

"Thanks to TOWIE I've been given the ultimate privilege - one-to-one sessions with some of the industry's most incredible and experienced make-up artists," she says. "And over the years I've fortunately learned some amazing techniques from the best in the business."

The good news is the 27-year-old is more than happy to share the skills she's picked up from the pros.

Here, Lydia spills on the five make-up products she uses to get glam every day.

1. Nars Sheer Glow Foundation, £32,

"Over the years, I've tried so many different foundations and I think you just have to find one that really fits. It's the best one for me because it's just the right amount of coverage - it covers my spots, but not too much that it covers my freckles, because I like to show my freckles. Also, it's quite a matte finish and I prefer that."

2. Lord & Berry Back in Black Mascara, £14,

"I love the wand. It makes your lashes really long and thick and it doesn't clump."

3. Kiko Invisible Touch Face Fixing Powder, £10.30,

"This is great at setting your make-up and getting it to a really nice matte finish and it's colourless and looks like a talc, so when you put it on, it's not going to change the shade of your foundation. It's a really good one."

4. PapayaGold Paw Paw Moisturising Balm, £5.99, Boots

"This is an Australian brand which comes in a red tube. It's for burns, but it's also really good as a lip balm. I really suffer with dry skin and cracked lips and this is like a super intensive Vaseline lip balm. It's really oily and feels lovely and if you put enough on it also acts as a lip gloss."

5. Urban Decay Naked Heat Eyeshadow Palette, £39.50,

"I love eyeshadow, especially if you're going out in the evening. I love putting oranges and browns on my eyes because they make my eyes look bluer."
