Heidi Klum, Diane Kruger and Olivia Palermo shine at CFDA Awards
The event highlights new trends and older fashion legends.
Heidi Klum, Diane Kruger and former The City star Olivia Palermo were among the best-dressed at Monday's (05June17) Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) Awards.
The event was held at New York City's famous Hammerstein Ballroom and hosted by late-night TV host and funnyman Seth Meyers. It recognises both new talent and trends and established designers and fashionistas. This year's awards honoured industry icon Franca Sozzani of Italian Vogue who died in December (16).
Heidi Klum held hands with designer Zac Posen on the blue carpet and rocked a full-length, white, very low-cut dress of his, adding a cleavage-enhancing long chain around her neck. Diane Kruger, who never puts a foot wrong on a red carpet, shone on the night's blue one too - actually matching it perfectly with her strapless cobalt blue velvet column with gold sequin detailing by Monse.
Olivia Palermo, meanwhile, seized the opportunity to promote her new capsule line with Banana Republic, wearing the only item from it currently available online - a dark orange dress which includes on-trend exposed shoulders, a flouncy bodice and trenchcoat-style buttons and belt loops.
It retails for $148 (GBP115) but fans of the famously stylish red carpet regular will have to wait until September (17) for the full collection which will include a snake leather trench coat as its most expensive item for US$998 (GBP774).
Other names earning high style marks at the CFDA event included Olivia Munn in a fun, flirty, red white and blue Tanya Taylor dress, SiriusXM host Brooke Shields in a dramatic, floral, floor-length Sachin and Babi gown, Kate Bosworth in a long, neutral, embellished dress, Mandy Moore in leopard-print Kate Spade, plus event honoree and Hidden Figures star Janelle Monae in a one-armed pantsuit in her signature colours, black and white.
Trends included sequins, colour, chunky heels and slicked-back hair as sported by Mandy Moore, Kerry Washington and Olivia Palermo amongst others.
