It was a weekend of horses, hospitality, fun, food and plenty of style.

More than 12,000 race-goers enjoyed the action at the Down Royal Festival of Racing on Friday and Saturday, where £340,500 of prize money was handed out.

Among the big winners at the weekend - in the fashion stakes, that is - was Mairead Traynor from from Silverbridge, Armagh, who took the Best Dressed award on Ladies Day.

Mairead won a dream holiday to Monaco after judges deemed her "chic, modern and edgy" outfit the best of the best.

"Mairead took the judging panel's breath away," designer Kris Turnbull said.

Also dressed to impress was Kelsie Stewart, Sandy Kane, Lorna Dunlop, Emma Zacharopoulou and former Miss Northern Ireland Meagan Green.

Down Royal manager Mike Todd said there was "a tremendous sense of occasion and a real buzz in the air" over the whole weekend.

"Ladies day is more than just a fun and glamorous day out," he added. "It epitomises the glamour and elegance of the overall racing festival."

Down Royal Festival of Racing was beamed live across the UK and Ireland to more than 1.5m TV viewers.
