Kesha unveils bold 'live free' knuckle tattoo
Kesha has had the words "Live Free" tattooed over her knuckles in a Gothic-style font.
Kesha has taken to social media to show off her bold new knuckle tattoo.
The Tik Tok hitmaker is no stranger to tattoos, having been inked with a skull and a colourful dolphin motif back in May (17), bringing her collection to well over 20.
But while Kesha mostly opts for small portraits, she has now had the words "Live Free" tattooed across her fingers, and unveiled the design in a post on Instagram on Thursday (31Aug17).
The image shows the words written in a black ink in a Gothic-style font, and in a now deleted post, the 30-year-old admitted that she was a little worried about what her mother Pebe Sebert would think of the concept.
"My mom is going to be soooo mad when she sees these #FREE #FREE #FREE #FREE #FREE but maybe not," Kesha wrote on Instagram. "Maaaaaybe she will understand (sic)."
Kesha visited artist Derrick Snodgrass of Oblivious Surroundings for the tattoo, and while she recently debuted her album Rainbow and the single Praying, it is likely that the motivational phrase is linked to her ongoing legal battle with music producer Dr. Luke.
Since 2014, the singer has been caught up in a series of lawsuits, with Kesha alleging physical and emotional abuse and employment discrimination against Dr. Luke, real name Lukasz Gottwald, while he claimed she had breached her contract and accused her of defamation. The case continues, with Lady Gaga recently dragged into the court drama after she was asked to hand over text messages relating to her friend Kesha.
The California native has previously taken to Instagram to show off an image of a tiger's head tattooed on the back of her left hand and a tattoo of a smiley face on her right middle finger. She also has a number of rainbow motifs dotted on her body.
"I've always just found hope in bright colours and I wanted to bring that more into my everyday life. So now my house is covered in rainbows," she shared during a recent interview with Good Morning America of why she likes rainbows. "My life and my body, I have, like, 10 rainbow tattoos."
