Lady Gaga creating Barneys gifts
Lady Gaga is creating a collection of limited edition gifts for Barneys.
The luxury department store has joined forces with the American songstress for the seasonal Christmas campaign.
The theme of the range will be based on Gaga’s Workshop, and will be created by the eccentric singer and Mugler creative director and friend Nicola Formichetti.
It will be a shopping experience on the fifth floor men’s department. The store’s floor will be transformed into Gaga’s version of Santa’s Workshop and will be filled with items created by the international star.
Barneys’ chief executive officer Mark Lee told WWD that Gaga is the perfect person to create a buzz surrounding the holiday period.
“Holiday is about joy, sharing and inclusiveness, and to me, Gaga really represents all of that,” he said. “Her platform is so much about positivity, individuality and universality in a very today way.”
Barneys worked closely with Gaga and Formichetti to design the exclusive gift items.
The pieces on sale will include apparel, accessories, cosmetics, candles and toys. The range will also feature books and CDs curated by Gaga. Among the items will be jewellery made of candy and lipsticks in signature Gaga red or pink hues.
Lee said that the limited edition collection will cater for people across the board.
“There are a lot of things for fans of all ages, for kids and kids at heart. I think our existing and new customers will find fun things to share and give as gifts in a lighthearted and not so serious way,” he explained.
The workshop will open in mid November and will close on January 2. 25 per cent of sales will be donated to a charity of Gaga’s choice.
