Lena Dunham shares nearly nude snap to prove body confidence
On Thursday (15Jun17), Lena told her Instagram followers that she is finally body confident, citing Instagram user Eating Boys for helping her learn how to love herself.
Lena Dunham proved she's "deeply comfortable" with her body by sharing an almost nude picture on Instagram.
The 31-year-old actress has hit headlines in the past by slamming trolls who have criticised her curvy frame and even blasted her for losing weight in recent months. But on Thursday (15Jun17), Lena told her Instagram followers that she is finally body confident, citing Instagram user Eating Boys for helping her learn how to love herself.
The Girls star also posted a picture in which she was seen completely nude, with two pears covering her breasts and a pot of honey shielding her nether regions.
"Just wanted to share that one of the reasons @eatingboys has inspired me so much is because of the way she mixes her humor and sexuality," Lena wrote. "I spent so many years loving my body but thinking it wasn't lovable by others- its sole purpose was to be fodder for jokes. I performed the insult so no one else could.
"I don't regret any of it- that's my art and that was my truth- but now, at age 31, having been through hell and back with my health and other people's perceptions of my physicality, I feel deeply comfortable with the idea that this pear-shaped pot of honey is equally good for making people laugh and laying out like a Suicide Girl circa 2004. Love it all."
The health issues Lena referred to in her post relate to her battling endometriosis for the past few years. The actress and comedian was forced to cancel her Lenny IRL tour last month after her physical pain from complications linked to the painful disease prompted her to seek medical help after the Met Gala in New York, a month after she was told she was free from the illness following another operation.
"I'm in the greatest amount of physical pain that I have ever experienced," she told fans at the time. "After being told I was endometriosis-free after my last procedure, more disease was found in deeper spots that required immediate surgery and now physical therapy.
"This disease is wily and unrelenting, and I'm really blessed to have a community, both online and IRL, who let me express how hard that is. Inspired by you, I'm gonna say 'Eff you' to embarrassment and walk the walk of a woman who really takes care of herself. My goals have to be simplified for this moment: to write and to heal."
Her April surgery was the star's fifth.
