As holiday season reaches its peak, I want to share my top tips for how to look your best for the beach.

On holidays, it is so important to nourish your skin. Having a hero moisturiser in your summer make-up bag is an absolute must and it is so important to tailor this to your individual skin type. However, in warmer temperatures we tend to become more dehydrated so it really is important to keep your skin hydrated and, of course, protected with SPF in the sun.

For this I am going to recommend a product and brand that I'm totally obsessed with. It is definitely on the more pricey side, but it really is worth it. This is Eve Lom Daily Protection + SPF50 (£70, Space NK). This is a skin boosting product: use a small pea size amount for the entire face and enjoy your complexion being left brightened and your skin tone more even, with Vitamin C diminishing the appearance of age spots and pigmentation. Lactic acid gently exfoliates and eliminates impurities and breakouts with a formula that is free from parabens, paba and synthetic fragrances. Your skin will be left super-protected, boasting an even-toned complexion that glows with youthful radiance.

Now that you have added the most important element into your beach babe make-up Routine, SPF, it is time to move on to concealer. This is perfect for anyone who only has certain areas they wish to conceal and create a flawless cover for. For this I love using a cream concealer on areas such as under the eyes, on the chin and nose area. This will disguise any pigmentation, redness or blemishes in a natural way. For this try Make-up Studio Concealer No 2 (£13.50).

If you prefer a fuller coverage then the next step is foundation. The best way to create a natural, barely-there base is with a BB cream. What I love most about BB creams is how they give a dewy finish - and BB creams usually work to match the skin type of the user. It is perfect for anyone on the go, those who love lighter coverage. I love using BB creams on models for any high fashion/editorial photoshoots where a super low coverage is needed. One of my personal favourites is Garnier Skin Naturals BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector (£9.99, Boots) - its tone is universal and it is super lightweight on the skin so there is minimal shine.

Whether you are a sea lover or not, you will be exposed to the elements by the pool, sea, or even by perspiration, so it is imperative to set your foundation and make-up with a loose setting powder. This will not only set your make-up in place, but for anyone with combination skin will slightly matify any oily areas. Try Laura Mercier loose powder (£29). This is an extremely lightweight, sheer and silky setting powder that contains the finest French 'cashmere' talc and a unique light-reflecting ingredient that creates a soft-focus appearance for fine lines and imperfections.

For a vacation glow I would apply NARS Laguna Bronzer (£29) all over the face with a fluffy powder creating the ultimate healthy glow. The NARS bronzer has diffused powders with golden shimmer to create an all-over warmth and contour to the face, perfect for creating or enhancing the look of tanned skin. No crazy contouring shenanigans - just a nice bronzer applied with a light hand. And to minimise baggage, use your bronzer as your soft wash of colour through your eyeshadow crease.

Finally, on the eyes simply add some mascara for definition and subtle drama to your eye shape. Try Make up Forever Smoky Lash (£20, Make-up Pro Store and Debenhams). This is a make-up must-have. Smoky Lash is an ultra pigmented volumising mascara which gives volume to the lashes with infinite lengthening and immediate curling. Its formula, paired with its tough dense brush, completely coats and separates the lashes from the roots to the tips for extreme volume and emphasised eyes.

5 top tips for the best beach looks

1. Try a refreshing cooling spray when lounging on holidays. One of my favourites is La Roche-Posay Thermal Spring Water Face & Body Spray (£7, Boots). This is so refreshing and adds instant hydration and the simple 'Ah' factor when applied.

2. Always keep up your SPF and sunscreen protection on holidays. It is so important to take care of our skin in warmer climates - so do not forget your SPF.

3. Keep hydrated with water - one of the first areas to show the signs of dehydration is skin.

4. On holiday, opt for Vitamin C-rich foods, such as oranges, which will do wonders for your skin and will add glow and hue to the skin.

5. And remember, less is more. Love your skin and apply product in small amounts - enjoy that natural, barely-there beach babe look.
