Rachel Roy took risk with pyjamas

Rachel Roy wore pyjamas to a recent film premiere to show the important of risk-taking in fashion.

The designer attended the premiere of One Day in New York earlier this week. She stunned by rocking a set of stripy sleepwear on the red carpet, accessorised with an oversized clutch, strappy shoes and geek-chic glasses.

“I have an eleven-year-old and I like to show her that it’s OK to take fashion risks and to have fun and tell a story with fashion,” she explained to InStyle when quizzed about the ensemble.

Rachel explained she worries too many women get obsessed about wearing what’s hot and don’t think about what they actually like. She wanted to show anything can be fashionable, as long as it’s worn with the right thing and accompanied with a punchy attitude.

The designer also had another reason for her unusual attire. “I tweeted this weekend that you can’t have style without confidence and I really do genuinely believe that. I also believe in balance. It was hard for me to find something to go with these shoes where I didn’t feel too dressed up and too done. So I thought, this is how I can wear these shoes by Mr. Blahnik!” she laughed.

The sleepwear Rachel opted for is by and retails at $138.

One Day stars Anne Hathaway and Jim Sturgess as Emma and Dexter, friends who realise their love for one another following a series of events throughout their lives.
