Shoes made by Derry designer proving big hit with Amal Clooney

A top Londonderry shoe designer has been providing human rights lawyer and wife of George Clooney, Amal, her classic and stylish footwear.

Handmade in Marche, the luxury shoemaking region of Italy, Anna Flavin is creative director of the brand owned by Ennio Mecozzi, a third-generation artisan shoemaker.

She has already designed 20 styles for summer 2015 and 30 for next season.

Now, Amal Clooney has taken a strong shine to her work.

Ms Flavin told the Hollywood Reporter her Italian shoe label is a favourite for the top lawyer.

"I believe a woman decides on the shoes she will wear as a reflection of how she wishes to interpret herself to the world," she said.

"Amal Clooney stepped out in Ennio Mecozzi at an international high profile court case in Egypt. When designing these shoes I had Amal in mind and I had visualized them with a similarly chic look that Amal chose to wear them with, a satin trimmed crepe beige Gucci suit with a single-breasted jacket and flared trousers."
