Sophie Turner prefers going make-up free on days off
Sophie Turner feels like her red hair is “part of her” now, despite having naturally blonde locks.
Game of Thrones star Sophie Turner enjoys being “plain and free” when she’s off duty.
The 21-year-old actress shot to fame with her role on the HBO show and consequently is frequently seen at red carpet events.
Alongside her work on set, Sophie rarely goes without make-up, which means that when she has a day off she likes letting her face breathe.
“I’m not talented with my face. I can’t figure it out,” she told InStyle magazine. “I’ll put on a bit of mascara and conceal my spots. In a job where you’re constantly wearing make-up and having your hair done, it’s nice to be plain and free.”
Similarly, while Sophie gets to don some incredible gowns while walking the red carpet, she likes being more casual and “effortless” when she’s not being photographed. However, she does have a favourite designer for when it comes to glamming up for big events.
“My favourite designer is Nicolas Ghesquiere,” she smiled. “His aesthetics and his shapes are so amazing, and he incorporates so many different eras into his clothing.
“But in my normal life I like to wear more tomboyish things. I like Opening Ceremony and a lot of men’s shirts and hoodies. I think it’s way cooler to be effortless.”
As Sansa Stark in Game of Thrones, Sophie is known for her red hair. However, she has naturally blonde locks and had to dye them a fiery colour when she took on the part.
Starring in upcoming independent drama Huntsville saw Sophie dye her hair blonde again, but surprisingly the actress didn’t enjoy going back to her roots.
“I got to cover myself in tattoos, and I had an Alabama accent - it was such a change,” Sophie mused. “It killed my hair. I would never normally do it. I loved having that red hair and feel like it’s part of me now.”
