Taraji P. Henson to launch must-have cosmetics collection with MAC

The Empire star's new deep tone beige lipstick is sure to become a must-have item for the autumn.

Actress Taraji P. Henson is to launch a new line of MAC cosmetics next month (Sep16).

The new partnership was announced on Tuesday (23Aug16), with MAC bosses revealing the Empire star's six-product collection will include a "deep tone beige" lipstick, mascara, and liquid eyeliner.

In a press release, a spokesman for the company says, "Taraji P. Henson has won the world over with her fearless performances, powerhouse confidence and charismatic spark. We're thrilled to announce she is joining forces with MAC for an upcoming collaboration.

The new beige lipstick, called Strip Me Down, has already sparked the interest of fashion bloggers, who insist the item will be one of the must-try items in the coming months.

The collection also features a brush and two pressed powders for highlighting and contouring.

The stunning Empire star takes her make-up very seriously and wowed on the red carpet at the BET Awards in Los Angeles earlier this summer (16), thanks to cosmetics artist Ashunta Sheriff, who offered up a simple approach to ensure her client's look would be immune to the sweltering temperatures.

"I wanted to go for an understated, soft and clean look on Taraji," Sheriff told Us Weekly. "It was a hot day and the look was effortless and easy to create."

Sheriff used Black Opal brand products to create Henson's look for the night, including the company's True Color Perfecting Primer, True Color Stick Foundation SPF15 in Rich Caramel, Flawless Perfecting Concealer and Invisible Oil Blocking Pressed Powder.

Henson sported a winged cat eye on her lids, which Sheriff created with Luxe Creme Liner in Onyx, Black Opal Color Splurge Eye Stain Matte in Bordeaux Bliss and Black Opal Precision Eye Definer in Coffee Bean, wrapping up the actress' face paint with just a few swathes of mauve lipstick.
