Tried and tested: 7 of the best double D-ivine bras
Sick of the limited lingerie options for the fuller-busted lady? Pippa Bailey presents the best brands for the DD+ cup size.
1. More by Bluebella
More is the DD-G line by luxury-for-less lingerie brand Bluebella. The whole range is black, which we love, with the occasional red detail, and has plenty of modern, sheer and strappy designs.
Best Pick: Octavia Bra: £32, Bluebella
We love the sports-luxe feeling of the black mesh and sheer on this bra, as well as the cut-out apex and gold strap details. A lovely low cup combined with a wide strap and underwire for support.
2. Beija London
Founded on the simple but revelatory concept that the same design doesn't suit different cup sizes. Each of its super comfortable styles come in three variations - X, Y and Z - for different cup sizes. If you wear a size DD-G, look out for the Z label.
Best Pick: For Keeps Z Bra in Carbon: £55, Beija London
Its For Keeps Z bra is a full cup, but it is sheer and unpadded so it doesn't look like it. It provides great support, sitting flush with the sternum really well, and - our favourite feature - the strap adjusters on the back have a clever clip that allows you to wear it normal or racerback. Also available in purple and red.
3. L'Agent by Agent Provocateur
Agent Provocateur is not the most obvious brand for DD+ lingerie, but its diffusion (ie cheaper) line L'Agent goes up to an E, so if you're on the smaller end of D+, you're in luck. We love that the majority of its bras are underwired but not padded, and have half cups in sheer fabrics so they don't look massive.
Best Pick: Angelica High Apex Bra in Nude and Ivory: £27, L'Agent by Agent Provocateur
This is the closest we came to a bra that feels like you're not wearing one at all. No underwire or straps digging in, just pretty, unpadded low-rise cups.
4. Wolf & Whistle
The independent UK clothing brand is already a favourite of ours for D+ swimwear, and it currently has an exclusive range of lingerie with Asos up to a G-cup. Coming in October, however, Wolf & Whistle is launching its own line of bras up to an F-cup on wolfandwhistle.co.uk, which will combine alluring styles with great support.
Best pick: Red and Black Lace Underwire Bra: £26, Asos
The red underlay and black lace combo makes this a little sexy, but its firm cups round breast out nicely. The wide (three clip) band gives plenty of support so it works for everyday too - as underwear should.
On the D+ lingerie scene for more than 30 years, the award-winning Panache umbrella brand also includes Cleo (its younger, funkier sister) Panache Everyday for comfort up to a K-cup, and Panache Black for luxe glamour.
Best Pick: Etta Balconnet Bra: £46, Panache Lingerie
There's something luxurious about the satin finish and sheer stripe details on this bra. The fact that the stripes are also partially sheer breaks up the supportive full cups and keeps it looking elegant. Available up to a G.
Bravissimo is an old-faithful brand when it comes to larger busts, having been making premium bras up to an L-cup size 1995. It stands out particularly for its own-brand designs offering everyday comfort with firm cups and wide straps, but it also stocks brands such as Freya and Curvy Kate.
Best pick: Elise Bra: £30, Bravissimo
T-shirt bras don't get much better than this. It's super comfortable and soft, with a smooth silhouette. The wide straps feel very secure, plus the wire falls slightly lower than others so it sits flat. Also in grey, blue and black.
Fantasie is one of the brands from A-K umbrella company Wacoal, which includes the likes of Freya and Elomi in the stable. Its seasonal collections are best for really delicate, pretty designs in a great range of colours, but it also has a line of essentials in black, white and nude available.
Best Pick: Estelle Silver Side Support Bra: From £38, Fantasie
Once again, our favourite combo of full cups with sheer detailing to keep it delicate. Support-wise, a high apex and wide band make this a comfortable choice, and it's available up to a G-cup.
