Vanessa Hudgens: 'Fashion prepares children for school'

The Grease Live! star is excited to sport new outfits inspired by the fall season colour palette.

Actress Vanessa Hudgens is convinced a stylish outfit helps children "feel on point" when they return to school.

The 27-year-old High School Musical star attended a charity event for U.S. retailer Kohl's at the Accelerated School in Los Angeles on Wednesday (17Aug16) and she had the opportunity to help pass out 2,000 pairs of sneakers there to kids in need.

Participating in the affair means a lot to Vanessa, as in light of children going back to school following the close of the summer holiday season, she remembers what it was like preparing to face your peers in the hallways again.

"It's important for kids to have nice new sneakers," she told Us Weekly magazine. "It makes them feel confident and approach the school year with a fresh start. You want to feel on point!"

While reminiscing about her days as a kid, Vanessa revealed her personal back to school fashion process was very thorough when she was a little girl.

"I would always set out my clothes the night before so I knew what I was going to wear and there'd be no stress in the morning," she recalled. "I was really shy and being around a lot of kids was kind of nerve-racking to me, so I had to make sure all my ducks were in a row. When I felt properly prepared, then I would be good."

In addition to the excitement over helping kids return to school feeling confident and prepared, Vanessa is super excited about the fall season for other, more personal style-related reasons.

"The fall palette is my favourite," she gushed. "It's very prominent in my closet — the mustard, the burnt orange, the greens. Wearing all those colours makes me so happy!"

And when it comes to her go-to footwear for autumn, Vanessa has a clear contender in mind.

"I got a pair of over-the-knee St. Laurent boots last year and they're my prized possession," she shared. "I love breaking them out!"
