Zoe Saldana's stylist: ‘She inspires me’
Zoe Saldana’s stylist Petra Flannery has given a rundown of the actress’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 premiere looks.
Zoe Saldana is a stylist’s dream client because she “loves the process”.
Actress Zoe has been hitting the promo trail hard for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, which saw her re-team with co-stars Chris Pratt, Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper.
Her longtime stylist Petra Flannery was on hand to curate Zoe’s premiere looks, and admits that working with the star is never a chore.
“Zoe definitely inspires me. You have to have that confidence (to wear these clothes), and she does,” Petra praised to Vogue. “(Zoe) is just a dream because she truly loves the process.”
Some of the standout outfits of the tour include a sequin orange Pucci fringed gown, a black and gold Alexander McQueen dress with sheer panels and a Loewe look made up of a see-through trouser and blouse combination.
“I loved everything about it,” Petra said of the Loewe ensemble, which was worn at the Japan premiere. “Because it had the sheer (fabric) with the rhinestone embellishment—which a lot of people thought were polka dots.”
Petra also called out the Ulyana Sergeenko corset gown that Zoe wore to the London screening, which had ruffled off-the-shoulder sleeves and sheer arm panels.
“We felt strongly about her couture collection because it has a little bit of a Gothic vibe,” Petra explained of the gown. “Zoe does that well. She’s so feminine, and it works when we go in that direction.”
The process of picking Zoe’s red carpet outfits is a collaborative one, with the 38-year-old always adding her voice to the dress discussion.
“I tell her what I’m envisioning and with her incredible abilities she will find the criteria that I suggested,” the star smiled. “She puts in her incredible expertise—and then we dance!”
