In the lead up to Christmas, there are plenty of places to get festive and tick off items from that Christmas shopping list.

From Christmas baubles to wreaths, handmade jewellery to locally produced foods, you’re bound to find something for that special someone (or even a treat for yourself!)

Below are some of the best Christmas shopping destinations to experience in Northern Ireland this festive season.

Belfast Christmas Market, City Hall

Belfast City Hall almost sets the festive tone with its Christmas Market and magical decorations.

Now in its 13th year, the Belfast Continental Market will be running right up until Saturday 23rd December, so you’ve plenty of chance to check it out.

Spend a few hours admiring the endless stalls filled with local and international produce and other items. Once you’ve finished browsing and buying gifts, grab a hot drink in the market’s drinks tent and soak up the festive atmosphere.

Winterland Market, Derry~Londonderry

The four-day Winterland Market comes to the popular Guildhall area of Derry City ahead of Christmas. Based at Guildhall Square, the market showcases the best artisan traders offering visitors a friendly shopping experience and something a bit over the festive season.

The city’s Craft Village is also worth visiting if you find yourself in Derry over the coming weeks. Pick up unique locally made gifts and enjoy the magical setting of the thatched roofed shops decorated wonderfully for Christmas.

Victoria Square Shopping Centre, Belfast  

Victoria Square is a popular shopping destination come Christmas with its great selection of shops, impressive Christmas decorations and 360-degree views from the centre’s rooftop dome.

In the lead up to Christmas (and on weekends throughout the year) are impressive stalls filled with handmade and artisan gifts.

You’re bound to pick up something special whilst browsing over the stalls which are situated on the ground floor.

St George’s Market, Belfast

It’s hard to beat St. George’s Market and it’s magical array of stalls filled with beautifully crafted gifts and Christmas nibbles.

Pop down to the market on a  Saturday or Sunday in the leader up to Christmas to catch a glimpse of local musicians singing festive songs, whilst picking up unique gifts from the many stalls dotted across the market.

The Linen Green, Co Tyrone

A designer shopping village, The Linen Green is a popular shopping destination in the Tyrone area and has a variety shops including Bedeck, Gareth McFarland Design Yard, and fashion stores The Lingerie Room, Storey, Panache Shoe Company and The Boudoir – perfect spots to pick up that much-needed Christmas outfit!

Nearby are also several places to refuel with a coffee/tea and something sweet before hitting the shops again.
