All the best: Michael Sullivan on his favourite things

By Kerry McKittrick

The 37-year-old is the general manager of Belfast's Bullitt Hotel. He lives in Newtownabbey with his wife Kathryn and their sons, Sean (3) and Connor (2).

My best moment

The birth of our children. I was talking to someone who is about to have their first one this morning and told them how it was a very emotional and rewarding experience.

My best song

Joxer Goes To Stuttgart by Christy Moore because it reminds me of when the Irish football team went to the European Championships in 1988 in West Germany when I was growing up. It always brings back great memories.

My best way to relax

Getting away with my family. We like to do activities with the boys which can be anything from going up to the Antrim Coast to visiting Gruffalo Trails. The days of sitting on the sofa with a box set and a glass of red wine are long gone.

My best job

Of course, it's being general manager of Bullitt Hotel and part of its successful opening. I was involved with the hotel about a year before it opened on October 16 last year. I'm really happy with how well we've done so far and how the hotel has been received.

My best advice

Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today which was advice from a general manager of a hotel I worked for in Dublin. It's definitely been useful, from a time management perspective if things can be done straight away then do it.

My best movie

Donnie Brasco which also reminds me of growing up and watching the likes of The Godfather and Casino. The mafia-genre films still appeal today.

My best gift

Two tickets to see Liverpool play Manchester United. It was a leaving gift from the hotel I worked at in Dublin in 2002. I'm a big Liverpool supporter and since then I try to get over to see a match every couple of years.

My best buy

A petrol lawnmower which is probably a sign of growing up. When we moved into our home it was the first thing I bought. It sounds like a little thing but I struggled for years with an electric one. My father-in-law has just bought a robot mower so that's next on my list.

My best achievement

Being part of the team at the first hotel to win five red stars - the Merchant Hotel. It's a great achievement and very few hotels achieve this. There are only about 15 to 20 in London. It doesn't get much better from a quality perspective.

My best book

Death of a Salesman by Arthur Miller which is a play and not a book. But it reminds me of leaving school to go to college. Every time I read it, it takes me back to that time. These days I mostly read crime novels by authors such as James Patterson and Harlan Coben.
