Galleries: Schofield showcases work from residency

The Blue Of Distance R-Space Gallery, Lisburn - Until Feb 9

By Elizabeth Baird

Lucy May Schofield's The Blue Of Distance comes from her most recent residency at Visual Arts in Rural Communities, Northumberland.

This show is based on recent cyanotypes and Mokuhanga prints. A cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan blue print. A Mokuhanga print is a water-based woodblock print developed in Japan.

This show features 15 of May's cyanotype prints called The Longest Day, and a series of 30 Mokuhanga prints called Nature Caress.

QSS Gallery, Belfast, Until Thursday

QSS presents the annual showcase of work by recent graduates from the Belfast School of Art, a platform for emerging artists during the major transitional stage in their careers.

There is a diverse range of works on show, from photography and painting through to sculpture, installation and printmaking.

It's an opportunity to see the broad spectrum of visual media being produced here today.
