Hugo Duncan: Hopefully Malachi Cush can make quick recovery
I was saddened to learn that Malachi Cush was injured in an accident which took place in Dungannon on Monday, but I believe he is making a good recovery from his injuries in a hospital in Belfast.
Malachi is hugely popular, both as a singer and radio and television presenter. He is a member of a large musical family and his mother is a first cousin of country star Philomena Begley, who lives in Galbally, not too far from Malachi's home village of Donaghmore.
Malachi first gained prominence on the entertainment scene when he appeared on Fame Academy in 2002.
He has released a number of albums and has helped to compere and perform at a number of country shows over recent years, including some prestigious annual awards shows in tandem with Lisa McHugh and Cliona Hagan. I was fortunate enough to pick up a couple of such awards myself.
Malachi is known for his generosity of spirit and he has in the recent past thrown his weight behind many worthy causes.
Some of his music tends to have a religious theme and this has helped to win him followers from all sides of the community in Ulster.
His many friends will doubtlessly join with me in wishing him a speedy return to full health.
