I'm looking forward to going to the Armagh City Hotel tonight, not just because I am scheduled to be performing alongside Mike Denver at a concert there, but because it will give me the opportunity to renew acquaintance with popular country singer Margo O'Donnell, who, of course, is the sister of the legendary Daniel.

Many years have elapsed since I first met Margo. At that stage, she was singing with a band called The Keynotes from Donegal and I well remember that they were very popular throughout the country.

Margo stepped back from the mainstream country dancing scene some years ago, but she continues to fulfil spots at concerts and other events.

Now resident in Castleblayney, in the not-too-distant past I remember spending a very enjoyable evening there in her company and in that of the late Big Tom and his lovely wife, Rose, who sadly has also passed on.

I am delighted to see Margo on tonight's bill in Armagh and I have no doubt that she will prove a big hit with concert-goers.

She is a very talented lady, who has recorded some wonderful songs and made a big impression on the entertainment scene in her own way.

Margo's distinctive singing style and her easy-going demeanour have won her many fans down through the years and proof of their loyalty was provided by the huge crowds which flocked to the series of concerts which she undertook last year.
