Hugo Duncan: Put off by sound of my own voice

By Hugo Duncan

I have heard in the past of people who have had problems with their hearing and have always considered myself fortunate not to have been similarly inflicted.

But over the course of the past week my hearing had become muffled and I can assure you it is a distinctly uncomfortable feeling.

For a couple of days I could hardly hear anything, but that situation has now improved greatly and my hearing has returned to normal thanks to the efforts of nurse Karen Redstone at the Mourneside Medical Centre in Strabane.

For a while, I found that I was listening to myself talking and it was somewhat off-putting.

It caused me to reflect on just what my listeners have to put up with every day!
