I will always have a soft spot for Kylie

By Eddie McIlwaine

The word is that Princess of Pop Kylie Minogue will be back in Belfast before the end of 2017. And, no doubt, when the lady who used to play Charlene in Neighbours returns, her thoughts will turn to her first visit here of all back in 1990, when a young Kylie played the King's Hall.

She was met at Aldergrove airport when she flew in by my daughter, Zara, just turned 13 and a mighty Minogue admirer.

However, when Zara was interviewed after the face-to-face meeting by Ivan Little, then of UTV, she proclaimed that much as she still admired the Oz singer, she had noticed Kylie had spots.

Kylie saw the interview beamed out on the UTV news that evening and, when she and Zara met up again backstage just before curtain-up, she jokily referred to what my daughter had said.

However, they became the best of friends and Zara is looking forward to catching up with Kylie on that upcoming visit.

In the meantime, Ms Minogue (48) is treating her fans to a re-issue of her updated album Kylie Christmas - The Snow Queen edition, which includes Santa Baby, Let It Snow and Winter Wonderland.
