Jenna excels in a role fit for a Queen

By Eddie McIlwaine

I'm featuring an actress today who is presently lighting up the TV screens in a right royal way.

She is 31-year-old Jenna Coleman, who is winning the affection of viewers everywhere as the young Queen Victoria in the eye-catching ITV drama Victoria.

Jenna is well-remembered by Emmerdale fans for her role as a 19-year-old wild child called Jasmine, whom she played in the soap for five years.

And then the girl from Blackpool made a name for herself as Dr Who's companion, Clara.

She shared many adventures with the good Doctor and became a familiar face everywhere.

Next, there was a spell in Waterloo Road, where she further developed her talents.

But Jenna's real impact with Northern Ireland viewers happened when she landed the part of cheeky Cockney Annie Desmond in the mini-series Titanic, written by Julian Fellowes, in 2012 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the liner.

As the young Queen Victoria, playing opposite Tom Hughes as Prince Albert, Jenna is learning to cope with affairs of state and the arrival of her children.
