Jeremy's student debt vow doesn't add up

By Lindy McDowell

Jeremy Corbyn said he would wipe out student debt. But even his party's education spokeswoman recognises the enormity of this task.

Angela Rayner concedes it would cost around, oh, about £100bn. £100bn!

A huge amount, as she says with some understatement.

As someone who was never in favour of tuition fees in the first place, what I'd love to know is where this money would come from.

Turns out it's actually an "ambition" of Jezza's to wipe the debt. Not a certainty. Don't hold your breath, then.
